went to the movies last night. i don't usually go see movies that often, but jondi & i had three songs in a film that premiered in sf yesterday so it was a good reason to go! pretty cool movie... low budget, but a fun story. the songs were all off our last album and were pretty heavily featured (as opposed to the last movie we had a song in where it was heard for 3 seconds in a scene where music was coming from a boom box placed off in the distance in an empty warehouse - enough to make the credits though!). =)
yep. sure did. lots of work to do before the release too. i'm very excited to choose singles and start working on various mixes. the loose plan at the moment is for a may 2004 album release, with the 1st single out on october of this year. I AM VERY EXCITED ABOUT THIS!
these people rock. last night a bunch of them donated their time and whatnot to put together a huge club night in support of wildlife causes. big club, big turnout, big fun. the crowd was fantastic and fun to be around. these people are just way too nice. what do you call someone who shows their appreciation for my set by handing me two drink tickets *and* money with which to tip the bartender. welcome to sf, i guess.
on another (and trivial) note, last night on the way in to the gig, the odometer on the car turned over to 10000 miles at exactly 10:00pm. wow. several miles later we parked in space number 303 (acid house anyone?).
ok, not one of my better posts...=)
if this excites you, you must be a trainspotting progressive house junky (which is ok if you have at least one hobby that doesn't somehow involve the name john digweed). just in case you think that's a bit mean, you should know that i didn't wake up today with the natural urge to poke fun at people. it's just that i've been reading the pre-press version of the upcoming qoöl quarterly which gave me lots of laughs at the expense of a few people, including us kids at loöq records. if you don't live in sf, drop me a line and i'll send you a copy when it comes off the press. until then, enjoy the new chart!
yep. anybody who knows me knows how much i don't like to do recorded mixes either. it's just so much better in the moment. to try to capture these moments on a cd can be so futile. then again, once the mix is put together and it's something you are proud of it becomes worth the frustration. it's also high time to do another one since i have requests going back months from various sources (3beat radio show in liverpool, proton radio - 3 different shows! - don't worry brian stillwater because you're the first on the list!, a german radio station, etc. etc.).
...completely missed sunday. saturday was faboo and i felt inspired for the entire 4 hours of my set. i actually began playing 20 minutes before the doors even opened just so you people who showed up early knew you were at the right place =). thanks to all who were there and a special thanks to everyone who brought me a drink during my set (eiming, sasha, lindsay, monica, astrid, michael... yikes thatsalotta drinks!). i hope to have more news about stuff later this week, stay tuned.
...my brain is mush because i just got up from a disco nap. ah yes, much more awake, even for this 2nd sentence. now all i need to do is eat something, grab the record boxes and go. looking forward to tonight - see all you san franciscans on the dancefloor!
well, i had time to work out the tracklist for the loöq mix and here it is. i'll mix this live, straight to dat in my next chunk of free time. i'm not sure when it will apprear on emusic, but should be soon!

thanks to everybody that came out to qoöl last night. i had a blast! not only that, but i got to road test some new tracks in preparation for my (4 hour!) set at loöq hard this saurday. i must say, i'm really looking forward to this weekend. =)
plans for today? i'm working on a mix of loöq records tracks which will be available for download via emusic.com. should be fun to dig through all of those releases (i think we are approaching 20 at this point!).
rock on!
good news from megan today - i'm booked to play at at party called earth in amsterdam on july 11. the promoter, per, is totally cool and is has been a great supporter of progressive music in holland for quite a while. looking forward to this one. more details on this and other gigs later. by the way, the fog has returned to san francisco with vengance. cold!
Hello and welcome to my website! It was designed to be a great way for you to stay in touch with me and visa versa. Click around and you will find pictures, my gig schedule, charts and other stuff. To the lower left of this weblog will always be streaming mixes of some of my sets. I decided to kick things off with a recently dug up archive of a webcast from Qoöl a couple of years ago. Why? Just to let the rest of the world know how fantastic my hometown SF crowd is, that's why (thanks for the support, qoölios!).
I'll check back in tomorrow. In the meantime, enjoy!
