today

i got up, astrid gave me a birthday card and some lovely presents along with my coffee, the phone rang with greetings from holland: "gefeliciteerd met je verjaardag" - "congratulations for you birthday". i have learned to count my blessings when i wake up one year older than i was the day before. tonight we'll have some champagne with friends and family before we head over to mezzanine for what could be a "very good"* night out clubbing with friends. i feel blessed for having these friends and family too.

*the adjective describing tonight will most likely be upgraded to "excellent" or "spectacular", however age has taught me to temper my predictions a bit, especially when it comes to night clubbing. =)
